Hi friends and family! As always we hope this finds you doing well! We are feeling very settled in Battambang. The days and weeks go by quick and its hard to believe we have been back in Cambodia for two months now! Everyone is doing really well. We have all remained fairly healthy. Let us show you a few pictures of what's been going on in our lives this past month.
Our family has started a one year Bible reading plan together. We are over a month in now. We try to come together after dinner and read our allotted scripture. There have been many laughs as we try to pronounce all those hard names in the Old Testament! Blessed family time that we will forever treasure.
We are surrounded by beautiful rice fields!
The children started school the middle of August. Gracie is in 9th grade, Carter is in 7th grade, Brysen is in 5th grade. Savanna is starting 1st grade again since we had to pull her out half way through her year to go to the States.
We are thankful for an extra room in our home to dedicate for the school room. Kristy teaches the children four days a week and Britton fills in on the fifth day.
Britton helps with the music program in Svey Kong. Saturday afternoons are spent practicing for Sunday worship. On Sunday mornings Britton joins the worship band by playing guitar. It's a great way to learn Khmer Biblical language as well as connect to the youth.
It was so exciting to see all of our "little" friends again in Svey Kong. We missed them every day while we were in the States. We are happy to see them growing and doing fairly well.
Shortly after we moved, there was a holiday in Cambodia. Our good friend David and his girlfriend came to visit us from Phnom Penh.
We spent an afternoon at some local temple ruins.
It was a special day together. We enjoyed hiking up the 300 steps to the top of the mountain and sharing a yummy Khmer lunch together.
Beautiful Banaan
One day our Khmer friend, Rith, took us to the local market to help us buy some meat. Finding good clean meat here can be a little difficult. We are thankful for Gods provision in the help of our Khmer friends.
Our neighbor Carol made us red velvet cupcakes with thick layers of homemade cream cheese icing...so yummy!
Britton spent some time, after his work, building a coffee table and a shelf for under our tv. He taught Carter and Brysen some woodworking skills. They had fun building these items for our home.
Britton celebrated his 36th birthday in August. We had a special evening celebrating with a few friends.
We have one day off a week that we call our "family day". We try to stay away from work and emails and spend time with each other. Sometimes we look for a nearby pool to spend the afternoon at.
Our children have few friends here. One of our biggest struggles here is finding things for our children to do. We are grateful for any chance they have to meet up with fellow missionary children.
Fresh veggies every night from the local market. So yummy and fresh.
Britton has been busy with a few projects for Cambodia Impact. One project is finding and pinning on a map every water well that has been built in Svey Kong. Once these are on the map, it will be easier to have a overview of the work that has completed in Svey Kong.
Another project, for Cambodia Impact, at the Antioch Church and Childrens Home is finishing the site of children home and church grounds. They will be completing the driveways, building planters in front of the homes, putting in a volleyball court, a game room area and finishing the parking areas. Britton has been the mediator between Cambodia Impact, the Pastor and a few Khmer builders to make sure that everything is set and ready to finish these projects. Hopefully soon they will begin!
Cambodia Impact funds various Pastoral training for local leaders. Last weekend, Britton, Pastor Saran and a few church staff drove two hours to Sisapon for one of these two day trainings.
Surprise meeting Piseth, a friend and brother to our family.
Pastor Buntan, and Pastor Saran, and Britton enjoying break time.
Eating together after training
Thankful for this group. May God bless each one as they go to their remote village to be the light of Jesus.
This training teaches leaders from various house churches how to teach the Bible.
The children and Kristy stayed home while Britton went to Sisapon.
We celebrated the birthday of our dear friend Rith. Our family grew by two members. Our children have been begging for new kitties since we found out our neighbors killed our other cats. Welcoming George and Lilly.
Fridays is a special day for Kristy. While Britton stays home with the children and helps them with school, she gets the opportunity to join the 'Friday Bible Study' in Svey Kong. These children specifically at this location have become quite close to our family.
Lots of hugs, snuggles and attention are needed.
An opportunity to capture some of the beautiful Cambodian countryside.
Kristy helps teach the children about Jesus. Usually this includes fun games and snacks.
These little souls are the next generation in Cambodia. Their little lives have so much value.
Traditional iced coffee helps keep us going all day long.
Here we are helping take off wings and legs of grasshoppers for lunch. They will fry nicely for a yummy treat. :)
Gods beauty everywhere we go here. It is a blessing we don't take for granted to live and serve here in Cambodia
