May update from the Filbrun 2021

Hello and goodbye to the month of May. Time seems to be moving by so quickly here as we are sure it is for our friends and family in the States. We miss everyone and this month brought a tinge of homesickness. Maybe it is the excessive heat or the continued lockdowns, but whatever the case, homesick or not, Gods unending love and mercy have renewed us day by day.

One Sunday afternoon we headed out on an adventure to Kam Ping Puoy which is a nearby lake in Battambang and a water lilly farm close by.

The boys and our fearless leader and faithful friend, Rith took a small detour into a cave. Us girls intuitions were right, the cave was indeed filled with bats, spiders, and tight spaces to crawl through. We were glad we stayed behind.

Some of our favorite memories here are our Moto adventures. Thankyou Jesus for always keeping us safe.

Our sweet friend in the red and her dying Mother. Britton went with her and prayed over her and encourage them. The benefits of learning the language has been going out on our own sometimes and spending time with our friends.

We offered to keep her little one for a few days to help her out. If you remember, this little girl from our previous posts, you will know that we have known her since she was born. Whenever she sees any member of our family she comes running. We adore her and having her into our home was so much fun.

She loved our little kitty, Rosie.

Meanwhile our neighbor had a dedication for the park across the street that she had built. She invited all the neighbors to come while she shared about her inspiration behind building the park. She had Khmer curry made in takeout bags along with cupcakes and Bibles. She told them about Jesus and let them know that the park was theirs to use and enjoy. She named it Blessing Park and she dedicated it to her Father and Mother who have since passed on.

Little Soakna slept through the whole dedication.

We took her swimming one afternoon. We are not sure but we imagine by her mannerisms that she had never been swimming before.

School work is going well. We try to switch things up and go to our local coffee shop every week or so. Its a nice change in our routine.

One Saturday afternoon was dividing up food packets for more families in Svey Kong. These packets were specifically for an outreach Sunday.

The gospel message was shared and Gods love was shown. We were thankful to witness many smiles. The church house was packed.

Happy Mothers Day!

We enjoyed a yummy Khmer lunch after church at one of our favorite restaurants.

A little evening celebration for Mothers Day.

We were given a jackfruit from the village. We found some of our neighbors to cut it up for us. Yummy and interesting at the same time.

One afternoon we traveled two hours to visit our friends in Mungresey.

We arrived safely at our bother Chumnos house. His wife had a new baby a few weeks ago and we were eager to meet him. Baby Onyx is indeed the sweetest and cutest baby. We enjoyed a few hours snuggling him and spending time with our beloved brother and his wife.

They sent us home with an abundance of corn, mangos and pineapple. What a treat!

Britton spent some time helping take care of some young people from Svey Kong who got the Chikungunya virus. A terrible virus from a striped daytime mosquito. We are thankful they are currently healed but sad that they will have lasting effects for months or years.

Bible studies every week day in Svey Kong. In a time when there is much fear over the virus, Gods Spirit is sweeping through the community. There seems to be a revival and we are excited to see the fruits of many laborers. It has currently grown big enough that there are two teams that lead separate Bible studies each morning. Ten in home Bible studies each week. Praise God!

Adding some new gravel to the church yard before the rainy season.

Also raising up and steadying the little hut across the road from the church. Rainy season will be here before we know it.

Praise Jesus for every soul who hears His name. Thankyou to Pastor Saran for diligently serving for so many years. We are amazed at his dedication.

Cookie making days are better with faithful friends.

There is a need for blood in Battambang, so we ended up giving and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. You never know here how clean things can be medically, but this center was well clean. We were in and out in no time.

A long meeting in Battambang city. It's a joy and an honor to work alongside of these Pastors.

More coffee shop school days.

Sundays at Antioch are always filled with loud praises to Jesus. Every time we go we are greeted with so many beautiful smiles.

Another Sunday in Svey Kong. These little children have found their way our hearts.

Thankyou to Grandparents, we were able to go to a nearby resort for a night to celebrate our boys birthday. We enjoyed relaxing and swimming together as a family.

The resort owners made our boys little chocolate lava cakes for their birthday. Such special memories were made.

Happy FOURTEENTH birthday Carter!

Happy TWELFTH birthday Brysen!

Later we invited a few friends over and celebrated the boys birthday with cake and homemade ice cream.

A few little local scenes.

Enjoying some coffee in front of our old home which is now a bakery.

Ending with a sweet little picture of our beloved kitty, Rosie.
