Hi friends and family. We are writing our blog this month from America! Our family is back in the States after being gone for almost two years. We are enjoying spending quality time with family and recovering from jet lag. Our family is split up for a couple weeks as Britton is in Ohio for a few obligations and the rest of our family is in California spending time with family.
We spent the first couple weeks of February saying goodbye to our friends in Cambodia and finishing up our work for Cambodia Impact.
The above picture was spent one Sunday in Battambang at the Antioch church. They had a beautiful goodbye party for our family.
A wonderful evening together with yummy Khmer food and kareoke.
One of the sweet boys from Antioch drew our family some drawings as a thank you gift.
Some yummy beef soup from one of our favorite restaurants in Battambang.
Cant pass up a photo opportunity with a bubble tea pillow.
Another evening we had a special goodbye meal with our Sisapon church family.
They gave us some very special gifts and spent some time thanking each member of our family.
This was our last morning to eat Koiteaoh in Sisaphon.
Another goodbye celebration at the church one evening.
Such special sisters in Christ.
Our last Sunday at Sisaphon was very special. We enjoyed songs and worship together.
They gifted us with a Cambodian flag and signed their names on it as well. What a special gift!
Our family also gifted the church a wall hanging Bible verse that had Khmer and English writing.
A special church family. We will always keep them in our prayers when we think of them.
Saying goodbye to our beloved cats was quite hard. Thankfully our landlord is willing to feed them for us while we are gone. We hope they are still around when we get back in a few months.
All of our possessions fit quite nicely into this room we rented at our house in Sisaphon. We are thankful to our landlord for letting us rent that room.
Our kitchen was packed so we were enjoying food from the park on the floor.
A last day at music class. We are thankful to each one of our children music teachers who taught them music almost every day of the week. Our children love to play music together.
Enjoying time with friends before we move.
And just like that it was time to leave our home in Sisaphon. Our journey to America had a few stops along the way. Our first stop was in Siem Reap at 6:30 in the morning to catch the Super Bowl game with some other fellow Americans. We even ate brats and chips and salsa for breakfast. It set a good vibe. We enjoy keeping up with a few American traditions as well.
Savanna enjoyed playing at the pool with her little friend for a few hours.
Our good brother David came to Siem Reap from Phnom Penh on a business trip so he stayed with our family and traveled with us on the way to Phonom Penh the next day.
Early morning breakfast before heading on to Phnom Penh.
Such special times with our beloved Khmer brother. An extra person in our car makes for a tight squeeze but we were happy for his company anyway!
Finally made it to the city. Enjoying burgers for dinner.
Enjoying the sunshine and some snacks together on our hotel rooftop.
Wednesday evening the night before we left for America our family all took rapid Covid tests.
Thankfully we all passed and were negative. The beginning of February we thought Gracie had Covid but turns out she just had a bad viral infection. And a few of us had strep throat and bad coughs as well. We were prepared for a test to come back positive if it was Gods will.
Thursday morning February 17th, the morning of the day we traveled to the States we went to a nearby hospital and had our official Covid tests. After they took them we had to wait until 4pm to go and pick them up again before we left on our flight at midnight.
CMA is graciously keeping our car for us for the next four months. We really appreciate a place we can keep our car for free while we are gone.
Here we are waiting to pick up our Covid papers at 4 pm. Still unsure if they are negative and if we really can leave for the States later that night.
YAY! We passed! All 6 were negative.
Our beloved brother David came to the airport to say goodbye to our family. We will look forward to seeing him again in a few months.
Landed in South Korea. We had a 12 hour layover. The day went by quite fast. We slept and enjoyed a mostly quiet airport.
Finally landed in Atlanta. Here we said goodbye to Britton for two weeks. He headed to Dayton and the rest of us headed to San Francisco.
Finally made it to Grandpa and Grandmas house!
Britton enjoyed spending time with his Grandparents in Ohio.
Grandpa Mark Rumble passed away while we were in Cambodia. His chair sat empty and we miss seeing him in his home. He is missed.
Thankyou to everyone who faithfully supports our family! We are sure of the calling God has put on our lives and are grateful that you choose to be apart of what God is doing through us!
