Hello friends and family. Another month has came and gone. As always we hope this finds each of you doing well. We are so grateful for a wonderful month working for ICF. We have enjoyed settling in and beginning our work. We feel like we have established a routine that works well for our family for this season. We thank God for His provision in all things as we adjust to a new city and a new work environment. We have seen the work of the Holy Spirit at ICF and we are thankful to be serving Jesus where the gospel is so boldly shared.
As you can see above Britton started his job as a Village Outreach Coach. His team goes out to different surrounding villages during the week. They spend time encouraging and praying for the villagers. They also invite them to church on Sunday and he enjoys meeting with the villagers there. His job is much like what we have been doing the last four years. We thank God for continued language learning to be able to communicate with the locals.
Britton and Pastor Senglee discussing ways to effectively share Jesus to the villagers. Senglee has an amazing passion for sharing Jesus with others. We are inspired by him. What a blessing to work among passionate Khmer people.
Kristy has begun working as an assistant for the Kids Pastor, and her name is Khemry. There is close to one thousand children that hear the gospel through ICF each week. That is an astounding number of children. There are many different programs that reach out to each of these children. Khemry does an amazing job sharing the gospel to each of these children.
A warm welcome on the first day of work. Our family has been treated very well in the ICF community. They have did a great job at making us feel very welcome and they are excited we are here to serve.
Savanna has joined one of the kids programs at ICF called Adventure Kids. Every other week there is a class for any expat kids or any children that speak English. A time of learning about Jesus as well as having some fun.
ICF serves the volunteers so many meals. This is a big blessing to our family. It not only makes us feel appreciated and loved but is also very convenient on those busy work days. We have loved all of the food that has been served.
Kristy and Khemry. This month has been spent in a lot of meetings as we begin learning everything our job entails.
Bringing our computers in to the IT team to have them set up everything we need to serve at ICF.
The boys are very excited to have their own Moto. This makes it very convenient for our family as each one of us is quite busy with various tasks.
There is a small cafe at ICF that trains some of the youth in that kind of business. Also the drinks are quite cheap so a cold drink on a hot day is a treat!
The boys above working with the TECH team. They are training the boys to help with the lighting and slides. This is a new life skill they are learning and they are enjoying it.
Savanna will join Kristy some days in the After School program. She enjoys coming to work with Mom and serving when she can.
The boys hard at work on their job.
Our Pastoral care couple from CTEN came to visit our family. We enjoyed spending time with them and taking them into town for an evening. They are not allowed in pictures for security reasons.
Mondays are often spent making food for the week.
Kristy joins Khemry in the village three days a week. They join the social team (The boys in red) in sharing the gospel with the children.
Alot of praying, teaching, first aid, and encouragement for the villagers.
A trip to the local coffee shop to spend alone time with Jesus and eat yummy fruit in a bowl.
One day was spent taking the Adventure kids on a small trip to a local garden. Savanna is apart of this group so she got to join as well.
Enjoying the local gardens, learning how to hear Gods voice through nature, and eating a snack in the shade.
A lunch and some games to end the day.
We celebrated Brittons 38th Birthday this month as well.
The usual request for pumpkin and sugar cream pie was made for the birthday man.
We enjoyed dinner at a local Indian restaurant and ended the evening getting fish massages on Pub street.
We are making some very dear friends. This is one of our Brazillian friends who invited us to ICF for the first time last year.
A girls evening spent enjoying some local food and sharing Gods love with a local seller while it rained. She gave us bags for our heads because we didn't have umbrellas. Knowing the language and culture gets you much more access into the hearts of the khmer people. They will listen when we share about Jesus. We remain faithful in Gods calling and bold in sharing to those around us.
Another miracle. Our tutor and friend from Battambang came to visit us for an evening. We got to take him to ICF to the youth event at church where he got to witness christians worshipping God for the first time ever. One loving step at a time. The darkness cannot overcome the light.
Another morning spent designing crafts to make the lessons more creative.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit is being taught over the next couple months. It is so nice to have access to craft supplies and the ability to make and design more creative things for the lessons.
Gracie is doing well in grade eleven this year. She is enjoying spending a lot of time with her friends she has made here. She is apart of two Bible study groups. Above is her Khmer group.
She is also enjoying serving in the wake park kitchen on Saturdays. Sundays she also serves with the "Mighty Kids" which is all the small little ones. She is much happier with a great community around her.
Six hours a week are spent serving with the "After School Kids" . Every Sunday over 800 children come to the ICF campus so of course it is difficult to get to know each one. This gives the Kids pastor an opportunity to get to know each one, pray for them and repeat the lesson she gave on Sunday so they can understand it more if they have questions.
A few moments to relax at the wake park, across the road from the ICF campus.
Savanna does well here in Cambodia. She has never lacked friends and she is very brave in speaking Khmer and helping alongside her family.
This season is rainy season in Cambodia. It makes traveling out to the village quite difficult but rain or shine Britton and his team remains faithful in their visits. Britton usually comes home sharing many miracles that happens on his visits. A more recent miracle was a specific prayer for two men to share with a ladys husband. And a very random, but God appointed moment, when Britton and one of his team members took a walk down the road and came upon this lady praying for help for her husband. After praying for the husband he described chills on his arms and the devil leaving through his ears. Spiritual warfare is strong but Gods power is much stronger and so we walk in that confidence wherever we go. This is a time of learning and seeing Gods power when we are faithful.
Britton and his amazing team. Some of the most passionate people we've met in Cambodia. Their whole lives are spent sharing Gods love. We have a lot to learn from them and we are grateful for this season.
Another day was spent taking some of the ICF staff kids on a trip to the village to hand out rice. Teaching them about giving. It was interesting to watch more privileged khmer children learning how to share.
A little Tuk Tuk train through town, past Angkor Wat and into the village.
A sign made for "Adventure Kids" has us pondering a bit on what exactly it means to hear Gods voice. As Christians we understand that we have many voices around us. Some are our own thoughts in our mind, some are Satans and his demons voices and some are Gods voices. How do we learn to hear the voice of God? It is by spending time with Him and having a relationship with Him. It is always good to be reminded to spend time with the Shepherd so we can clearly hear His voice.
We pray this finds each of you growing closer to our Lord and Savior as we love and serve Him each day wherever that may be
Thankyou to everyone who supports our family in so many different ways. We are truly grateful and know we could not do this without your help. May you receive blessing from God for your giving.
...See you next month :)
