Hello family and friends. This month has flown by and it is hard to imagine that we are ready to fill out another blog post. The days go by so fast here it seems. Our schedules are full with ministry work, school, volunteering and meeting friends. This month we had a national holiday so we enjoyed a few days off. We thank God for His provision and faithfulness to our family while we serve Him here in Cambodia.
The children enjoy finding a local coffee shop to spend a few hours playing games and eating treats. Now that they are older this is something special they can do together. They have created a close bond while living here in Cambodia. Having siblings is like having built in best friends. We pray they always remain close.
The class above is called "Adventure Kids". It was designed specifically for the expat children. It is a class in English, a few Khmer children will join, if they can understand English.
We enjoy taking pictures of our unique food we get to eat here in Cambodia. Above is fish and rice along with some veggies and fruit.
Savanna enjoys hanging out with her new friends. Elise above is from Switzerland.
A testament to the rainy season. Our motos are always covered in mud.
Gracie is doing well in school as well as enjoying a couple Bible study groups. One group is a khmer group and the other is for English speakers.
One Sunday morning she joined her Khmer Bible Study class to a local orphanage to serve for the morning.
They enjoyed coloring and playing games with all the children.
Savanna had the honor to meet an actual real live Princess. The Princess of Cambodia came to the ICF wake park one afternoon. The wake park shut down to the public for security reasons but all ICF staff were invited and especially the little girls from ICF were asked to come and play with the princess. Savanna thought this was very neat and exciting!
They enjoyed spending the afternoon with Princess Jenna.
They even got to share lunch together with her.
A cute little verse in a local coffee shop.
A little Mommy/Daughter date
Our beloved Khmer brother David came to visit us two times this month. He lives in Phnom Penh which is about 6 hours from our home in Siem Reap. This was the first time he came to visit us since we have been living in Siem Reap. We have a extra bedroom that we had fun preparing for him.
A little coffee date with a close friend. We are feeling so blessed to have many friends this time around in Cambodia.
We enjoyed taking David to the wake park for a fun afternoon.
Learning how to kneeboard and wakeboard for the first time at the wake park.
A fun evening spent at Pub Street. We ate dinner and walked around for awhile.
The fish spa is always a fun place to take a new guest. Its a terrifying experience haha
Sandwiches for lunch when David was here. His first time eating a sandwich American style.
Yummy cinnamon rolls. We are thankful to have figured out how to make our favorite treats here.
Savanna enjoys helping Mom sometimes during the week. Here we are collecting the speaker and supply box needed to teach an After School class.
Britton is one of the leaders of the Outreach team. They have 23 Bible study groups they go and spend time with. Britton also spends time coaching the Khmer ICF staff that helps in the village.
Depending which Bible study location they are visiting and what level that specific group knows about Jesus, depends on what is taught for the day.
Britton helps set up and organize the wake park for Sunday morning worship. The wake park veranda is used on Sunday mornings for an Adult worship service with people from the village.
Sometimes first aid is needed in the village. We always carry a first aid pack when we go out.
Another Adventure Kids Saturday. This specific Saturday we had a movie themed party with snacks and a fun movie.
A fellow missionary friend, Aline. She and her family are Brazilian. They make videos with puppets about the Khmer alphabet and incorporate Jesus into their videos as well. We enjoyed a cooking class together learning how to make American cinnamon rolls. Next time she will teach me how to make a Brazilian dessert.
We shared some rolls with another missionary friend who had gotten into a bad Moto accident.
One Monday evening we took the boys music teacher to a local mini golf park.
Heang, the young man in the red shirt, is the drummer for the worship band at ICF. He enjoys teaching the boys music and he is training Carter to play the drums on stage soon.
David joined us again for a khmer holiday called Pchum Ben. We always love to spend time with him. He is a constant in our lives especially here in Cambodia.
A traditional Khmer breakfast, which we all love very much.
Walking down by the river. Enjoying having family time.
The outreach team from ICF took a trip to a nearby lake for the day. We failed at taking pictures but we did manage to get one on our way home. We had to stop and buy raincoats for the very rainy two hour ride back home.
Another evening was spent eating "Koi tea oh" with our friend Heang.
A bunch of clear noodles hidden in the broth.
Heang has enjoyed spending time in our home teaching us the worship songs from ICF.
We have had a great month. As usual some days are much harder than others. It is common for missionaries to struggle with homesickness or loneliness, we are used to this feeling by now. Even when surrounded by lovely friends there is often a touch of longing for our earthly home in America. This experience has been challenging but extremely rewarding and character building. We are so thankful for this opportunity to grow in character and serve Jesus here in Cambodia. We are especially grateful to be serving with ICF. We are so grateful to have a team here on the ground. We love serving alongside fellow missionaries.
With that being said we want to thank all of our supporters. How ever you invest in our family you are noticed and appreciated. Thankyou so much for sticking with us these past four years. We are so grateful to each of you.
See you next month here on our blog. May God bless you all!
