February Update From the Filbruns 2023

Hi friends and family. Another month has flown by as I'm sure it has for you as well. I am always thankful for pictures because they remind me that we actually were quite busy this month. The days seem to blur together here because we keep quite busy with various activities.

We found a new coffee shop in the picture above and enjoyed our yummy treat together one hot afternoon between meetings.

Village Outreach days.

How beautiful are the feet of those that bring good news.

Beautiful village countryside

Teacher Khemry sharing Gods love to the children.

Making her use the microphone to save her voice! She often is missing her voice because she enjoys talking a lot and is able to talk loudly. Training her to use the microphone instead of shouting is better.

A typical lunch at the campus.

Britton has been battling a severe allergic reaction this month. He spent some time with the ICF Dr as well as a recommended Dr in town. He tried all kinds of oils, medicine, and lotions but nothing seemed to work. He even did a medical fast for 5 days drinking only water and tea. He decided to go to Phnom Penh to a skin specialist. Here he is buying his bus ticket. He also took a time to rest and reflecting the city as well. We can't say his reaction has healed yet. He is still battling this. Thankyou to everyone who has prayed specifically for this issue. Please continue praying for complete healing in Jesus name.

Our washing machine broke down one day so we took our laundry to the local laundromat.

While Britton was in Phnom Penh, he met our dear friend Hav, who recently moved to the city from Siem Reap. He will be going to University there.

Sweet factious with family. Thankful God keeps us protected while we are are apart.

Savanna enjoys working in the Mighty Kids program on Sunday mornings.

Britton spent four days in the city. One afternoon he met our familiar friends and enjoyed a coffee with them. This is nice that Britton can spend time encouraging these young men. We are thankful for all the opportunities God gives us to share with those He brings into our lives.

Poor Rosie got in some sort of fight and had to be taken to the vet. She was better after a few days.

It might be hard to see us in this picture but here is the Church team we are apart of at ICF.

Brysen had a bad case of Strep Throat one weekend.

A days work at the office

Savanna started going to a new school here in town. She wasn't doing very well with online school hence the decision to enroll her in a school. A lot of her little expat friends from ICF also go to this school. She is quite excited to have this opportunity.

Cambodia celebrates International Women's day. This is an important event and so ICF has a big program bringing in close to 1000 women from surrounding villages. I have been put in charge of the 'Second Hand' booth. The above picture I am making price tags. I am writing Khmer currency.

This is the theme of the event.

Carter has been very busy this month helping with the Worship Team. He is learning so many skills and so we are grateful to Shelli and Tola for allowing him to join the team.

One Saturday Britton and I went on a lunch date with some new friends. Above is very traditional Khmer food we have grown to enjoy so much.

About a half hour out of town to Phnum Krom which is the local mountain behind us. Coming from the West we all know that is definitely not a mountain but rather a small hill. Anyway we enjoyed doing something other then work for the day.

Rady and Katy. Katy is also an American. Her and Rady were recently married and were quite a joy to get to know. Rady is Khmer and they are working on applying for a citizenship to move to Atlanta where Katy is from.

Savanna joined me at the coffee shop while I worked on entering lessons.

Have older sister came for a visit too!

Britton and I continue to go to a local gym as many times a week as we can. Being physically healthy is very important over here and in our Christian lives in general.

We were invited to a wedding of a couple who met at ICF. While we don't know them too clearly we did enjoy the evening with friends. Their ceremony started at 4pm and all the guests sat in the very hot sun until the sun went down behind the building. It was a very hot experience.

My dear friend and fellow missionary, Aline.

Sweet sisters in Jesus and coworkers at ICF.

Happy Valentines Day! We tried to make the day special with some extra love mixed in.

A yummy valentines day dinner with flowers from Daddy in the middle.

Rosie! :)

Lots of meetings for the Second Hand shop

The boys and I have been teaching English on Thursday evenings. We are helping the English Teacher at ICF with the high school students. They need help practicing their pronunciation and doing their homework sheets. We have really enjoyed getting to know these dear young people.

Britton and I put in close to 8 hours a day working at ICF. Alot of my job recently has been lesson planning and entering into Notions or Google drive for all the future classes to be taught.

The boys help set up and take down hundreds of chairs every weekend for various programs.

Sunday mornings at the Khmer Adult service

Lots of items being donated for the booth, which is happening on March 8th.

Making quiche for dinner was a yummy choice.

Victory in Jesus stickers. This is the ICF theme for this year.

Thinking back to fourth of July in West Milton. We miss our beloved home too!

Savanna had some days off of school so she enjoyed playing at different friends houses.

Carter and Brysen also started a new grade. They are continuing on in their school work.

Printing and laminating price tags for the event.

Pretty fake flowers being arranged for the women event.

One day my friend Steffi and I took our daughters to ride horses at a nearby horse farm.

We enjoyed some muffins afterwards.

A burger or two might have been enjoyed this month as well.

Carter playing on stage Sunday morning.

Baptism Sunday.

My sweet boys are apart of the welcome team. They do so well every Sunday.

Praying over the ones who will be baptized.

Praying over them before they go into the water. There is also a prayer team who prays for them afterwards when they come out of the water. Prayer is the key that unlocks Heaven. God will answer and hear our prayers.

This month I was moved into a different position. While I am still under the Kids pastor I have taken on the roll of the pastor "teacher" for the Adventure Kids here at ICF. Adventure Kids is ages 9-13. We have enjoyed our Sunday evenings together.

Had the joy of celebrating a sweet Pastors wife as she will have her first baby soon.

Praying over the new Mother. We that have walked this road know how hard this can be. We are thankful when God brings a loving community to join around us as we raise our children.

Creating and printing verses for various projects and programs.

Brittons picture of a family who has ALL recently decided to follow Jesus. So so amazing. God is doing so many amazing things in the Siem Reap villages. It is a blessing to learn and watch God move in ways that only He can!

Praying over new believers. Some praying for the first time for their family. Miracles on miracles. We serve a miracle working God. We believe this! We believe God is who He says He is. We believe that the Bible isn't just an old book but the words inside still apply today. The gospel message is very simple. It crosses over all cultures. Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. Religion cannot get you anywhere. We pray Gods Truth over Cambodia.

Years go by. Almost five years since we moved to Cambodia. It has been amazing.

Piles and piles of second hand clothes waiting to be sorted.

Thankyou friends and family for all of your love and support through the years. We are often amazed at how God provided for our family through you! Your generosity will never be forgotten. We have learned and witnessed how God is our provider through this chapter of our lives in Cambodia.
