Filbrun Family Update July 2023

Hello friends and family! Another month has came and went. As you know our family will be heading back to the States in September. We have a plan to write a farewell post here on my blog. If you financially support our family we will be reaching out to you via email.

All that to say, we are trying to really enjoy our last weeks inside Cambodia. As of today, we have four weeks left working for ICF.

Enjoy our July pictures!

Above is beautiful Cambodia from the sky. It is the rainy season now so everything is really green.

Savanna received a little award at her school. For her enthusiasm, dedication and for always being happy and polite.

If you remember from our previous blog we donated blood to the lady on the left. We are happy to say she is doing well and adjusting to life without her leg.

Parts of this month were spent mentoring a couple from ICF. Lots of prayers and coffee shop dates.

Another coffee shop date with a sweet friend.

When mission teams bring giant boxes of Graham crackers! So thankful when mission teams remember the missionaries as well.

We celebrated 4th of July with the very few Americans at ICF.

It was a fun and memorable evening. Its always quite hard to celebrate holidays but its special to have a reason to get together and try to replicate anyway.

A couple leftover pictures from when the mission team was here in June.

Such a sweet girl!

Protein shakes and manicures with special friends.

We made a trip to Battambang for a last visit. We decided to go this month because the pastor we worked with in Svay Kang has been very sick. It was so nice to see all of our friends again.

Above is our very favorite food in Battambang.

With our friends, Chris and Heidi, also from Ohio.

Spending time in Zarra Kafe in Battambang. We spent many hours here doing schoolwork.

Gracie had a fun weekend with her friends in Phnom Penh so she didn't join us this trip to Battambang.

We found a fun new ice cream place in Battambang for $.50 a cone! So yummy!

One night we joined our friend Rith at the Battambang resort. If you've been following along for awhile then you will recognize this resort. We have spent many hours here making all kinds of beautiful memories.

;)

One morning we went out to Say Kang, the village we worked in for over two years. What a special experience to see all the little children running to see us again. We were so happy to spend the morning with them all. We had the opportunity to explain where we have been working now and that we will be moving home to America shortly.

Sweet little ones who we love and miss. We will always hold them close in our hearts.

We stopped in at the Svay Kang church to spend some time with Pastor Saran and his family. Pastor Saran has been quite sick so it was special to spend time praying together.

On our way home to Siem Reap we stopped in at Sway Sisaphon where we also lived for around a year. Again, so special to see everyone again. We have missed them all.

Our old house has since been changed into a church for a time. So fun to sit back inside our old living room and remember all the good times we had there.

...I was glad when they said, "Let us go to the house of the Lord"...

Dear Brysen decided to publicly pronounce his faith. This will always be a special memory for him being baptized in Cambodia at ICF. Britton got to help with the baptism which was really special.

No greater joy. It truly is the biggest blessing to see my children reading their Bibles on their own and choosing to serve at church. God is so good.

Couldn't keep the tears from falling. We love you so much Brysen!

Savanna on her last day of school at TreeHouse in Siem Reap. This has been such a huge blessing to have a school she could go to. She wasn't doing as well with online school so when the opportunity came for her to join this school we were so excited. She made a lot of great memories here.

All them motos parked outside for the TreeHouse School celebration program.

Evenings out with special friends. A new yummy taco place in Pub Street hit the spot.

Rolled ice cream was a first. Got a discount since I spoke Khmer haha

Here are just a few testimonies from Brittons work in the village.

Saturday morning kid adventure

Just the sweetest friends their ever was.

Snacks for a special movie time

Sunday morning crew. Love to see my boys serving so well.

ICF always serves lunch every Sunday to all the volunteers.

We have begun selling our items in our home. It is so weird to see all of our stuff leaving.

Burning idols out in the village. Once a family believes in Jesus, it is always encouraged, not forced, to burn the idols or anything in their home that they have that has spirits.

Always a happy day.

Fun to Skype with our oldest, Willie. See you soon Willie!

A evening at the movie theater watching the Barbie movie. Definitely don't recommend, but we had a fun girls night anyway.

Using our leftover lemons to make some tea. Always fighting against various sicknesses.

Joyful hearts when we connect with fellow brothers in Christ.

Yummy Lemon Bars

A sweet little visit from baby Anna and her parents.

She is so chunky and precious. Anna is the new daughter of one of the pastors at ICF. She will grow up in a beautiful family that loves Jesus. Her parents are the sweetest.

Taking some family pictures at Angkor Watt. They have some Khmer photographers around taking pictures for $.50 a picture. And then they transfer it onto your phone. Such an easy way for us to get some family pictures in before we leave. Be looking for these specific pictures around Christmas time haha

Trying to stay active. We have enjoyed all our friends at our local gym.

Fun pictures after our meeting

Yummy Graham cracker delight with our precious graham crackers.

Headed to Phnom Penh for a short weekend of rest/visiting friends and saying goodbye to this beloved city.

Yummy Khmer food with David

Dinner with How

Online work in BKK Starbucks

Passapp rides in the city are the best.

Dentist appointments.

Imported fruit from the Philippines and Australia.

There is a Texas chicken and a Louisiana chicken here in the city. A few chuckles to ourself knowing this doesn't represent Texas at all.

Sunday morning service at ICF

Dinner after church at New Life

Enjoying the city from on high

A few pictures of Gracie and her dear friends

Early morning game time with Pastor Eddie and his son Miles

Blood donation with David for a friend who was in a Moto accident

FaceTime calls with the youngest :)

That is all for this month. We will keep updating and keeping everyone informed. I will prepare a new blog post soon with specific details.

We thank everyone for your continued prayers and love for our family.
